Cober Mouth is a Bristol based band that fuses nu metal and metalcore. 4 friends that grew up together in the Cornish music scene, now offer up their unique brew of heavy tones to the world. Within months of their live debut, they have headlined a sold out show at Thekla, battled their way to the final of Bloodstock M2TM and MicroDog competitions, as well as being booked to established bands like Heart of a Coward, Lastelle and Osiah. They are quickly becoming known in the South West as a live force of perpetual brutality, fuelled by chaotic metal energy and a healthy dose of comic relief.
Lewis, Adam and Dylan attended Helston Community College together in Cornwall, and in 2014 Adam and Dylan drafted Lewis into their first project together, Black Leaves of Envy. Growing up in the most southernly town in the UK, the bands access to the wider musical world was limited. Nonetheless, they immersed themselves in their local music scene, and sought to get involved with regular events. As a covers and originals band, the teenagers eventually performed at venues such as Concorde 2, The Royal Albert Hall and The Liverpool Philharmonic. The band were featured in media outlets and music publications worldwide, such as NME, Loudwire and Planet Rock after frontman Dave Grohl waded into their noise dispute over a right to practice once a week in a family garage.
When Black Leaves of Envy folded in 2019, the idea of Cober Mouth quickly followed. Whilst cycling through several names, Cober Mouth eventually stood as the uncontested candidate – a reference to the mouth of the River Cober, a body of water that flows beneath the town where Lewis, Dylan and Adam grew up. The three have played music together ever since with a variety of lineups, most recently drafting Sam Windsor (ex The Menstrual Cramps), also a Cornishman that grew up close to the trio in Truro. Although Cober Mouth is now based in Bristol, they are still a Cornish band at heart.Their first album represented a cohesive set of ideas that had been floating around in the ether for years – their new release however marks the start of a band with deep roots truly finding their sound. Since they entered the live music scene in late December 2023, they have worked successfully with regarded South West promoters Karma Bookings, We Need Bands and Live Sound Promotions.
